Hair Loss Solutions

Androgenetic alopecia or common male pattern baldness (MPB) accounts for more than 95% of hair loss in men. By the age of thirty-five two-thirds of American men will experience some degree of appreciable hair loss, and by the age of fifty approximately 85% of men have significantly thinning hair. Approximately twenty five percent of men who suffer with male pattern baldness begin the painful process before they reach the age of twenty-one.(1)

In order to combat baldness, according to The Washington Post, American hair loss sufferers spend more than 3.5 billion dollars a year in an attempt to treat their hair loss. Unfortunately, 99% of all products being marketed in the less than ethical hair loss treatment industry are completely ineffective for the majority of those who use them.

As a leading hair loss clinic, we use only proven hair loss solutions that are both surgical and non-surgical.

Finasteride’s success is due to its ability to specifically inhibit Type II 5-alpha-reductace, the enzyme that converts testosterone into a more potent androgen dihydrotestosterone (DHT). Propecia’s 1 mg dose of finasteride can effectively lower DHT levels by as much as 60% when taken daily. It is DHT that shrinks or miniaturizes the hair follicle, which eventually leads to baldness. This 60% reduction in DHT has proven to stop the progression of hair loss in 86% of men taking the drug during clinical trials. 65% of trial participants experienced what was considered a substantial increase in hair growth.  Recently the use of Propecia has come under scrutiny because of possibles sexual side effects*. Minoxidil (loniten) was the first drug approved by the FDA for the treatment of male pattern baldness. Since minoxidil has no effect on the hormonal process of hair loss its positive effects are not as noticeable as other forms of non-surgical hair therapy. However, it is encouraged for hair loss solutions*.

Laser Therapy

Low-level Laser Hair Therapy, or LLHT is a completely safe hair loss treatment. LLHT devices work by emitting a specific wavelength of light from a laser diode which is able to rejuvenate the cells that hair follicles need for oxygen and nutrients. This process ultimately increases cell metabolism and reduces the effects of dihydrotesterone, also known as DHT.

Our patients have seen success with Laser Cap. LaserCap® is a portable home device that uses low level laser light treatment (LLLT) to treat female and male hair loss, thinning, shedding and receding hair lines.

It has 224 low level laser lights built inside a flexible dome shaped membrane which provides LLLT exposure to the entire scalp and optimal power for the maximum results*.
